Liza Novoseltseva

Assistant Coach

GRAFA alum Liza Novoseltseva has over 16 years of fencing experience.

Assistant Coach Liza started fencing foil at just six years old under the training of GRAFA coaches Mikhail and Arkadiy Sarkisov. By age 8, she began competing at national and regional tournaments with her sister, Anna Novoseltseva. By age 14, she became the Division 2 National Champion.

  • Top 16 @ 2019 Junior Olympic Championships

  • Numerous Regional Championship Titles @ Junior and Senior foil competitions

  • 13th @ 2021 NCAA Individual National Championships

  • 4x NCAA Regional Qualifier

  • 2022 All-Region Second Team

  • 2023 All-Region Honorable Mention

In 2019, Coach Liza signed up for the Division 1 Fencing Program at Temple University, ranked 5th in the country. She received the President’s Honor Roll in 2022 and 2023 and earned USFCA All-Academic honors for all four years.

In her Junior and Senior years, Coach Liza was voted Foil Squad Captain, leading her squad to multiple victories against the Top 10 schools in the country.

In Coach Liza’s Senior year, she hit 100 Collegiate Career Wins and landed multiple NIL deals, where she worked closely with brands for social media platforms.

Named Temple Fencing’s Most Valuable Player in 2023, Coach Liza graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Health Professions in Spring 2024.

Coach Liza currently works as a patient care specialist at the Cancer & Hematology Center in Gand Rapids.

As one of GRAFA’s Assistant Coaches, Liza is coaching our beginning, intermediate, and advanced foil classes, and overseas GRAFA’s adult fencing program. Liza is also available for the foil private lessons.

When not busy training GRAFA’s next generation of fencers, Coach Liza also supports GRAFA as our rock star Office Manager.
